February 2018 Ofsted judgement - Outstanding Sixth Form
“Outcomes for students in the sixth form are well above the national average for
students studying A-level courses. Students’ progress in a large number of
subjects is above the national average.”
“Teaching in the sixth from is a significant strength of the school.”
The Windsor Boys’ School has a Sixth Form of which we are justly proud. With 220 students choosing to study with us post-16, we retain and attract a very large number of boys who wish to share in the success we achieve and who are willing to take up the challenge we offer: to gain as much as possible on an academic and extracurricular level. According to our Value Added indicators, we regularly average a top 25% place nationally for the progress made by our students.
Our academic offer ranges from vocational qualifications – BTECS – to A Levels in a range of ‘traditional’ and ‘non-traditional’ subjects. These varied options enable you to attend top universities, apply for an apprenticeship or go straight into employment.
Outside the classroom, there are unparalleled opportunities to assume responsibility, to develop sporting and entrepreneurial skills, to achieve greater self-confidence and to gain new interests. We recognise that education is for the whole person and for life. Thus - apart from showing any potential admissions tutor or employer that there is much more to you than what appears on certificates - life-long interests, hobbies, habits and friendships flourish during your time in the Sixth Form: if you make the most of it.
The next two years are among the most important you will ever face. If you choose to enter our Sixth Form, you will be asked to commit to being the best young man you can be. Being a Sixth Former at The Windsor Boys’ School is a privileged position, and comes with attendant responsibilities. If you embrace these, you will have an excellent chance to achieve, whatever it is that you are aiming for.
