On a wet, windy December afternoon TWBS U14 travelled to last years Semi-Finalists Veralum School in St Albans in the National Cup. A potential mismatch on paper but TWBS let their football do the talking. Winning tackles, winning headers, first to every ball and showing true UNO ANIMO spirit. From the first minute Windsor took control of the game but couldn’t take their chances. Sam Lee was the standout player leading the midfield with big tackles that set the tone for the game. Bailey Jefferies was a constant threat down the right hand side and looked dangerous throughout. Captain Sean Mackay and Finn Jones creating a incredibly strong partnership at centre backs and Tomiwa Abiola the warrior at right back!

0-0 at half time but seemingly in control against an incredibly tough team. Mr Woods and Mr Unsworth addressed the need to keep working hard and believing we would score the next goal. 15 minutes into the second half and finally the breakthrough! Caylan Vickers sending Bailey through who managed to squeeze it home via a deflection. The boys did not stop there. It would have been easy to try and sit on the lead but attack proved the best form of defence as Tom (Matt) Jansen got on the end of a loose pass and managed to score. 2-0 5 minutes left to play. They threw everything at windsor but the U14 were solid and Finn Jones’ precision header from a corner was enough to escape the fingertips of the goalie. And with the final header of the game TWBS ran out deserved 3-0 winners.

Veralum were by far the best side Windsor have played this year however the drive, motivation and will to win gave them the win they deserved. Round 5 of the National Cup next week.
