French trip to Montpellier

The Windsor Girls’ and Windsor Boys’ Schools languages departments took a group of 28 students for a linguistic trip for five days to the South of France in Montpellier. Despite getting up at 3 o’clock on Wednesday morning, the students enjoyed their first 3 hours of French lessons before being collected by their French host families.

Each morning they had to make their own way to school either walking or using public transport, where they had their French lessons. After enjoying a three course sit down meal in the canteen, students spent the afternoon sightseeing. On Thursday we enjoyed a guided tour of Montpellier and some free time whilst Friday afternoon was spent in Nîmes, where we visited the Roman arena and the Maison Carrée, one of the best preserved Roman temples.

On Saturday, after a very hot tram ride, we all went to a big outdoor shopping centre and then spent the afternoon on the beach. Students had an amazing time in France and we were very proud to see how they used this opportunity to speak as much French as possible.  It was lovely to see how much more confident they were by the end of the trip.
