Ultimate Frisbee U17s Indoor Nationals

The year 9/10s Windsor Wolves went to Wolverhampton, last weekend, to play at the under 17 Ultimate Frisbee Indoor Nationals.

Off to a great start, our first game was against Air Badgers 5 from Exeter, where we won 8-6 after a tough game, with Saksham’s defense playing a vital role able to stop the other team from scoring.

Our inexperience showed in the remaining Saturday pool games, losing closely against RGS Ravens and Mill Hill and then playing against soon to be champions: Air Badgers 1.

We stayed, that night, in a scout hut, chilling out eating pizzas playing dodgeball, table tennis and watching a movie.

Our first game on Sunday morning, against Flux 3 was a cross-over 13th v 20th seed.  A win would give us a top 16 overall finish.  And we won 8-5! Thanks to Matvey’s long throws and Nathan’s ‘oh too casual’ catches in the endzone which secured their fate.  We lost our last 2 games against RGS Ravens and Airbadgers 5 to take 16th place overall which is a big improvement from last year’s 23rd place.

We all got considerably better and enjoyed the weekend.  We’re looking forward to the next competition and will be training hard.
