Judo medals for Austen brothers in Holland

Ben (11Bs) and Luke (9Bs)’s coach highlighted great performances from their club at the Breda International in Holland. ‘In particular, Ben and Luke Austen led from the front, winning Gold and Bronze respectively, great preparation for December’s British Championships at the EIS in Sheffield.

Ben has now won three gold medals in a row, one at a national ranking event in the UK and again here in Holland as well as qualifying first for the British Schools championships in March. Ben showed great composure in Holland, using a combination of lovely foot sweeps and devastating ground game to submit or hold his opponents en route to his gold medal.

Luke Austen followed up on his recent silver medal from an International event in Poland, with a hard earned bronze in Holland. He won five matches and lost only once, showing excellent throwing ability and a cool head in some really tough matches. He came through a really close bronze medal match, winning with two lovely hip throws.’
