Physics Society host Imperial College Professor

The latest event in the school’s Physics Society took place on Friday 23rd March.  We were really lucky to have a guest speaker from Imperial College, Professor Sir Tejinder Singh Virdee FRS who is an expert in the field of Quantum Physics.

For 90 minutes, the professor gave an illustrated talk going into depth about the interactions of particles and his work at the Large Hadron Collider in CERN.  He was impressed that most of us had visited this facility in Geneva last year on a school trip.  He also spoke about the search for fundamental particles, which may sound dull but was really very informative and interesting.

The students, from years 11-13, asked a number of intelligent and searching questions at the end, rounding off what was an informative evening.  Professor Virdee is an incredibly busy man so we were grateful to him for sparing the time to come and meet us all.
